Jon Van Loo Transactional Tax Lawyer with a broad range of experience, focusing on the tax aspects of initial coin offerings (ICOs), cryptocurrency transactions, blockchain companies, M&A, international tax and investment funds. Jon has practiced tax law for 10 years in a variety of firms and cities, including: Linklaters’ London office, a tax boutique in San Francisco, and Dechert’s New York office. In 2017, Jon launched his own solo tax practice based in Menlo Park and earlier this year, he co-founded Belcher, Smolen & Van Loo, a boutique law firm based in Silicon Valley and San Francisco. Jon’s cryptocurrency tax experience includes advising various cryptocurrency hedge funds (including CoinFund) on a variety of domestic and international tax issues, advising companies on the tax aspects of ICOs, advising individuals on the tax aspects of cryptocurrency transactions, and advising on the tax aspects of M&A transaction in the crypto space.
